Mr. Andrews is the absolute best to work with. I first met him when I was in middle school. I was experiencing domestic violence at home and needed an outlet. Mr. Andrews introduced me to schools that would allow me to be a critical thinker and creative. At first, I did not think that someone like me who had limited resources and no parental guidance would be able to attend anything outside of my neighborhood school. I was wrong, Mr. Andrews pushed me to believe in my abilities and confidence to think beyond what was in front of me. He introduced me to the school that made me the resilient and determined person that I am today. Mr. Andrews introduced me to Duke Ellington School of the Art’s. Duke was exactly what I needed. I experienced many barriers when trying to gain admission into Duke. I did not have a ride to the audition, no support with the application process and counted myself out. He did not allow me to count myself out. He ensured that I was able to audition by getting permission from my mom to take me himself and worked long hours to help me with my application and resume. This man was literally what I call heaven sent. If it was not for his push and encouragement I would not know where I would be today. Duke Ellington was within my reach and a dream come true. It never ended there, Mr. Andrews continued to motivate me and monitor me throughout my college journey. He assisted me with affirmation and supported me all throughout my four years of college and even watched me become the first SGA President to speak at graduation. Mr. Andrews has always supported me day in and out. He has done more than just his job. He is a true leader and mentor. Anyone would be lucky to have a Mr. Andrews in their life.

Just wanted to take a moment to circle back with an update and thank you.  Things are going really well after working with you. My son has completed 3 weeks of a 12-week internship in the field that he is interested in pursuing. Thanks for supporting him with coming up with this plan. I am relieved and excited about what’s to come. As we continue to work with you.

Having known Derek for the past 40+ years, it’s no surprise he’s been able to put this all together in such a seamless, systematic process. He lives it! With the ability to implement this very process in his children’s lives, he was very capable of passing along the information to me so I could use it for my children. It helped us immeasurably. Follow the process and your children, too, will succeed.

Mr. Andrews is a motivational coach, of sorts, that encourages one to maintain a progressive mindset personally and for the household.  Conversations with him inspire me to stay prepared so that I may seize every opportunity imaginable.  His analogies and references to books make it easy to understand success happens when preparation meets opportunity, and we must never pass on opportunities.  In many of our brief interactions, he has helped me to plot short term goals that have been life changing.  I am grateful for his friendship and support.

Modest and self-less communication are critically important to me and my family. I’m convinced that my adapting the realistic, practical and clear understanding of the effects of active sportsmanship , and  basic outline and guidance on navigating the SAT Test consistently shown to me  by Derek were truly lifesavers for me and to both my first and last child.
